Spoiled little Rich kid

So I bet most of you checked the blog wanting to see updated pictures. I can't blame you...we've definitely spoiled you by putting up lots of pics with each post--and let's be honest--Par's been doing well, no real immediate danger and no one really wants to read about Par's progress with breast feeding. You've been spoiled--and we plan on continuing...We just can't help ourselves--we literally take about 50 pictures a day (today 125). We are still completely in awe that God has chosen us to be this little boy's parents--He must know something we don't!!! Anyway, I was thinking today...does this blog get me out of having to make a baby book? Hmmmmm....

But of course, Par is the one who is really spoiled. I know before I said I didn't want to get to the point where he cries to be picked up--too late. I can't help myself--I just can't get enough of this precious baby!!! I held him from 11am to 10pm today--with just a few breaks (lunch, dinner, shift change & when he was in his swing)--I even pumped with him in my lap (he was sleeping). He slept on my chest for about an hour and then in the cradle position for another hour--and we played and sang Christmas songs--the day just flew by!!! So...he loves being held and cuddled--and he definitely cuddles back!!! The nurse had to pry him out of my arms to do vitals and weigh him tonight (he finally broke the 7 lbs mark!!!! woo hoo!!!)--so after she weighed him she held him on her chest and just said "I just have to get some sugar--I can't give him back"--he is such a sweet and gentle little guy--you can't help but love him. It doesn't hurt that he is self-soothing and doesn't scream half the day like a lot of the other babies.

We are hoping to see some BIG changes tomorrow--they are supposed to change his nutrition to 100% breastmilk through his NJ tube tomorrow and bottle feeds/breastfeeds. That is a big step. Elaine worked with me again today on breastfeeding--we spent about 30minutes going over some stuff and practicing with Par--he seemed interested like last time, but just couldn't quite do it. About 5 minutes after she left, PAR LATCHED ON!!! He stayed for about 5 minutes and seemed very happy and content. I hope he can do it again tomorrow--I wish I could try at every feed...but because of his CDH and stuff--we have to be careful not to get to worn out because he'll end up using too many calories and won't have enough energy to breath. Just another ball to juggle in the air--a big reason why this takes time.

We continue to pray for Jasmine and her son Jonathan. We thank the Lord for his goodness and mercy for each of us. Praise God for his promises! We also thank God for Josh, Tina & Ella who have constantly inspired us to seek the Lord in their words and example--having a blog takes "accountability" to an entire knew level! We thank God for the opportunity to share our journey with so many--sometimes it is therapeutic, sometimes just fun to share exciting news, sometimes great to vent--sometimes it seems like homework--but all the time, we are completely recharged when we receive comments, emails and phones calls about our little boy's blog. We give all the glory to God for such a remarkable tool.

May God bless you and your family during this mad shopping season (by the way, I finished my Christmas shopping in September)

Much Love,
Liz, Rusty & Par the spoiled little Rich kid

Looks like Par has developed a bit of an attitude in the first picture. It was great to see! Need to let you know that your sharing and your faith are an inspirition to this family. We feel so blessed to be able daily to keep in touch with what is happening. Thank you! Know that prayers continue for all of you and Ella & Jonathan and their families.

Peace,

Anne & Bob

What wonderful news this morning about your success with the "latch on" Yeah for Par and you......I know it is hard to let him go, once your have reached that very intimate and special milestone. One day at a time, and each day sounds more and more positive. As for Christams presents, you already have the most special gift: you son, husband, family, friends and of course, HE who makes it all possible.
Blessings, as they happen

Babies grow up so fast that you better be taking lots of pictures. Next year at this time you will look at Par and wonder where the time went. Jim and I are addicted to the blog so keep those pictures coming. It makes as feel like we are there and being a part of what is going on with each of you. We love all of you and send our blessings, Jim and Sheila
