Par "Kobayashi" Rich
If you are up on your important sports heroes--you know that Kobayashi is the six-time hot dog eating world champion--and with the way Par tossed back FOUR bottles with 19cc's each in a single day--Kobayashi might soon have some new competition! We are so proud of Par--he was completely pooped from all the hard work--but it definitely shows a lot of progress.
He is still showing the signs of reflux--so Elaine came and worked with us during one of his feeds today and changed some things up to help make him more comfortable while eating. She noticed that he may be dealing with some esophageal issues--possibly that the muscles don't move the liquid down fast enough. She indicated that the upper GI study (that we are having done tomorrow) will let us know if that is part of the problem. I can't get over how patient Elaine is with him--we are so thankful that she has been here to help him. Par also had a very successful breastfeeding session--he's becoming an old pro!
Most of the day consisted of us feeding Par or playing with him--Rusty was finishing up a project, so mom and I had him to ourselves all day. He is back to his normal self and was our sweet little boy the entire day--but with quite an appetite.
We are praying the results of the upper GI study will help determine a clear cut course of action for getting Par eating and getting us home. I know I've mentioned "getting home" in a few of the recent blog posts--but that is where we are at this point--barring no other complications--once we get the feeding figured out--not much else is keeping us here--we might or might not go home on oxygen--we are SO close...Thank the Lord for Par's recovery--Rusty and I know his recovery has been quite remarkable (faster than normal)--it is only through His mercy.
Chris (Jonathan's dad) is back in town and was able to hold Jonathan for a long while today. I spoke with Chris and Jasmine during shift change--they were explaining that Jonathan may be weaned off ECMO tomorrow. We ask that God--our Physician of Physicians-- will miraculously heal Jonathan's body so that all may see His Glory. We continue to pray for peace within the hearts of Chris and Jasmine during these next few days.
Thankfully, there hasn't been any tom-foolery between Ella and Par. She's been the sweet little girl as always and Par was a perfect gentleman...although we are curious how one of Par's mittens ended up under Ella's crib...hmmmmmmm......
Thank you for your prayers and comforting words....
Love,
Liz, Rusty & Kobayashi Jr.

liz,do you think that when yall get home you will be able to keep us informed on pars progress and keep showing pics,if not i will probably cry because i will miss yall so much and seeing par and yall,BUT I WILL ALSO BE GLAD THAT YALL WILL BE OUT OF THERE.
Way to go Par!! Great news on the feedings. We will be praying for some important solutions on Thursday. As Allison has told you Jordan had reflux issues. I am sure Par's are different because of the CDH but the issues will be overcome. Please tell Jasmine and Tina that we have their babies in our prayers also. Love and blessings, Jim and Sheila
Love the bonding of all three families that are going through the medical ordeal together. And the little mitten of Par that was found in Ella's crib, how curious is that? How far away do all of these children live from one another? I am confident you will stay in touch.
Contiuned prayers.

What a blessing that Par is doing so well. Prayers for good answers tomorrow are on the way. As to the mitten. I've seen some stuffed fuzzies in each crib. You do know they have a life of their own. Probably were batting the mitten back & forth to get Par & Ella in trouble (tongue in cheek).
Peace,
Anne & Bob
