Par & His Papa

Par's NJ feeds were decreased to 5cc's per hour and his bottle feeds were upped to 40cc's today and his 2pm feed was exclusively breast. He did great! He latched on immediately and ate for over 35 minutes! We are so excited because at this point--it looks like he just might be the breast eater in the nicu by the end of the week! Hopefully he'll do well tonight and they will increase his feeds to 45cc's tomorrow morning. I'm not sure if they'll add another breast feed or if they'll just keep the one at 2pm. FYI- Our little boy is topping out at over 7 lbs 5.2 oz--woo hoo!

Rusty and I had some musical visitors roaming through the NICU-they play this musical instrument called the "Freenote"--very soothing sounds. I really liked it--they let me play it too (although I still really want a harp)--Par had a different opinion on the matter...

After shift change, Rusty and I gave Par a bath--as we have said before, he LOVES his baths...especially his shampoo--Par loves the head massage his dad gives while lathering the shampoo--our little boy is so spoiled! (I can say that and not feel guilty as long as he has feeding tubes and oxygen)

After his bath, Par tried to convince us to take him back to the try outs for the Gainesville Living Nativity (I don't know why he won't just drop it!) Anyway, he wanted to audition for the part of the shepherd boy--we find out tomorrow if he got the part.

Rusty and I spent the rest of the night just being a family--holding our baby and loving on him. I just love watching Rusty with Par--it amazes me how much they love each other, or better--it amazes me how looking at them, it is like they've always known each other. (I can't put it into words--that will have to do.) We read him a book, rocked him to sleep and then said his prayers. It was easy to leave him tonight because he looked so peaceful and we know he is in loving hands.

We praise God for another day--we thank Him for the miracle of our baby and all the precious babies in the NICU. We ask that he will wrap each family with love and completely remove all the stress and anxiety the holidays can bring and just let each family be 100% there when visiting their babies. We ask only for God's perfect timing when it comes to going home.

We continue to pray for Par's friends. May God bless you.

Love,
Liz, Rusty & Par

How could you not spoil such an adorable angel!!!! Keep up the spoiling. They are only a baby for a short time. Morganne's eye surgery went well today. That is why I am writing so late. Hope tomorrow is another great day. Love and Blessings, Jim and Sheila
